Guide Betting On Draws

A soccer match can go either one of these three ways: a home win, an away win or a draw. In most cases, home wins are always most likely. But for 'away wins,' and sometimes underdog wins are possible. A successful bet on a draw can also be very profitable. So we've come up with a quick guide to betting on draws.

Betting On Draws

When it comes to soccer betting, backing the draw is an often overlooked, but a potentially lucrative option. Draws usually have high odds, which means high profits. But this also means high risk. Teams end up with the same amount of goals a lot more often than you may think, but when would one bet on a tie? Read on to find out.

1. Choose the right competitions

Matches don't end in a draw every day. Statistics have shown that most games end with either one of the teams winning. But if you do a little bit of digging, you'll come to find that some competitions have a higher rate of draws than others.

The Greece Super League is one such tournament, and so is the Morocco Botola Pro. So far, for the 2019/20 season, the Panama LPF, South Africa National First Division, and the Iran Azadegan League have been seeing a high rate of draws, and this trend is likely to continue. Just pick a league with a top draw percentage, and you'll be okay.

2. Lay the draw

Betting on draws can prove to be profitable when betting on some matches in individual leagues, but what about all those other competitions? In such situations, laying the bet could lead to success. When you lay a bet, you bet against an outcome occurring, which means that you're essentially betting on draws will not happen. This option usually doesn't result in incredibly high profit due to low odds, but it's safe.

3. Avoid fixed odds betting

With fixed odds betting, the odds aren't subjected to any movements.  You place a bet at the beginning of a match, and that's it. Alternatively, you could give in-play betting a shot. With this wager, you can place a bet after a game has commenced. Matches are infinitely easier to predict once they have started, and you would be able to see exactly how well each team is performing, and you have an inkling that the match may end in a draw, then lock in your bet. If you feel like one of the teams may end up winning, you can always lay the draw.

4. Look out for the right opportunity

The one character trait you would need to possess if you want to bet on draws is patients. Profitable betting opportunities don't crop up often. You would need to wait for a while, at least until half the season, so that you can get a fair idea of each team's performance, see how the competition is shaping up to be. If you find that there seems to be a high percentage of draws during the first half of the season, it would be safe to assume that this trend would continue into the second half.
