The Best Season In The History For SC Freiburg

SC Freiburg is a German soccer team looking for its first first-division title. This team has advanced to the final of the German Cup 2021-2022 (DFB-Pokal) and has the chance to make history. It is the Geier (vultures) club, which has a 117-year history. They have another nickname, the "Breisgau-Brasilianer" or "Breisgau Brazilians," which have become well-known. This team is headquartered in a university town with a lot of activity. Likewise, they desire to consecrate themselves to the maximum circuit. This club wants to win its first trophy in Germany, specifically the DFB-Pokal, and add a star to its history who has little experience but a lot of showy play. Lower divisions won the remainder of their prizes.

SC Freiburg finished third in the Bundesliga in 1994-1995, behind Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen. Volker Finke, who holds the record for the most years on a German bench, is commanded this team. From 1991 through 2007, he stayed for a total of 16 years. For their direct game and ball handling, that team was dubbed the "Brazilians of Breisgau." So far, 27 years have passed since this feat, and the Freiburg team has alternated between Germany's top and second divisions. It has few titles and little prestige, but it has a golden chance to change history.

SC Freiburg Is The Bundesliga's Biggest Surprise

Currently, in fifth place in German football, Freiburg is not only battling the leaders. But, they also hope to qualify for the Europa League and possibly the next Champions League. The Bundesliga is nearing the end of the season, and this "Black Horse" continues to surprise. This team is worth 152 million euros (tenth in the German championship market value), significantly less than the enormous value of 804 million euros held by Bayern Munich in the first position.

SC Freiburg has 12 victories, nine draws, and only seven losses thus far this season. He has 45 points, three fewer than Leipzig and one more than Hoffenheim in sixth place. Hence, they would qualify for the Europa League if it ended today. Besides, they had a streak of six games without losing before losing 4-1 to Bayern Munich. Mark Flekken, the goalkeeper of the Netherlands, is their most valuable player. He has contributed significantly behind the three sticks, accumulating 9 games without conceding goals. With 33 goals against, his squad has positioned itself as the fourth-strongest defense in the tournament, only being surpassed by Munich, Leipzig, and Mainz. They are not far behind in the offensive department, either, as they are the sixth team in the Bundesliga with 44 goals. Vincenzo Grifo, a German-Italian striker, has scored seven goals so far.

Furthermore, they could aim to maintain that position during the remaining schedule or sneak into Champions League positions with a combination of results. They will only play against one team (Leverkusen) above them in the remaining six games. They play Frankfurt (9th), Bochum (11th), and Mönchengladbach (12th) in the final stretch. But the most significant matches are against Hoffenheim and Union Berlin, who are sixth and seventh in the rankings. We'll keep a careful eye on the progress of this surprising team, which has become a German football revelation.
